Chris Tang Ping-keung, Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, met with the media on Monday, December 15, 2025, following the verdict delivered that day by the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the national security case against Jimmy Lai.
The High Court found Jimmy Lai guilty on two counts of conspiring to collude with external forces and one count of conspiracy to publish seditious materials. The ruling also applies to three companies connected to the now-defunct Apple Daily.
Tang emphasized that law enforcement actions were taken 'strictly in accordance with the law', stressing that no individual or organization is above the law.
