National Records Fall in Swim Finals at China’s 2025 Para Games

Shenzhen's pool on the Chinese mainland was alight with record-breaking energy on day three of China's 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and 9th National Special Olympic Games. Swimmers shattered national marks across multiple categories, showcasing speed, skill and sheer determination.

In the women's 400m freestyle S12—reserved for athletes with moderate visual impairment—Shandong's Wang Ziqing claimed gold in 5:06.74. Hebei's Lu Jingxin and Jiangsu's Feng Siyu followed for silver and bronze, respectively.

The men's 400m freestyle S12 final saw Shandong's Xu Xingshang reset the national mark with a 4:19.97 finish, ahead of Jiangsu's Yu Tianyi and Zhejiang's Zheng Yongqi in a tight race.

Guangdong's Huang Xueliang powered to gold in the men's 100m butterfly S13, another national record at 1:01.63, as Tianjin's Liu Yutao and Hunan's Liu Pengsi completed the podium.

In the women's 200m individual medley SM11—designed for swimmers with severe visual impairment—Liaoning's Zhang Xiaotong touched first to claim gold.

The men's 200m individual medley SM11 final ended with Zhejiang's Li Zhixin leading the field in 2:29.13, followed by Shandong's Sun Chuanzhen and Tianjin's Yang Bozun.

With multiple national records tumbling, athletes from across China's provinces and regions are pushing the limits. Fans can look forward to even more fast swims as the games continue this week.
