This past weekend at Craven Cottage, Manchester City edged Fulham 5-4 in a rollercoaster Premier League showdown, as Erling Haaland made history as the fastest player to reach 100 English Premier League goals.
Haaland struck in the 17th minute to hit his century in just 111 games, smashing Alan Shearer's 1995 mark by 13 fixtures and boosting his scoring rate to 0.90 goals per match. Twenty minutes later, he set up Tijjani Reijnders to double City's lead.
Phil Foden then fired a powerful strike into the top corner just before halftime, only for Emile Smith Rowe to head in on the stroke of the break. Early in the second half, Foden grabbed his second of the match before Jeremy Doku's deflected shot made it 5-1.
Fulham refused to back down. Alex Iwobi pulled one back in the 57th minute, and substitute Samuel Chukwueze netted twice in six minutes, setting up a grandstand finish. A late effort from Josh King was cleared off the line by Josko Gvardiol to deny the hosts a stunning draw.
The win moved City to 28 points, just two behind leaders Arsenal, while Fulham's spirited comeback underscored Marco Silva's side as one of the division's dark horses. Next up, City will look to maintain momentum in their race for the title, and Fulham aim to build on a performance that captured worldwide attention.
