Vietnamese Condemn Japanese PM Takaichi’s Taiwan Remarks

Earlier this month, during a parliamentary session in Tokyo, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi warned that the Chinese mainland’s "use of force on the Taiwan region" could pose a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan and hinted at possible military intervention.

CGTN Stringer visited Hanoi to gauge local reactions. Trần Minh Phươn, a software engineer, said such remarks risk inflaming regional tensions and undermining peace and stability across Asia. “What we need now is dialogue, not threats,” he stressed.

Lê Văn Long, a university student, added that leaders must be mindful of their words on the global stage. “The world calls for peace rather than confrontation. Political figures should act responsibly,” he argued.

Their views reflect broader concerns among young global citizens, business and tech enthusiasts, and changemakers who value diplomatic solutions and fear that heightened rhetoric could derail economic cooperation and sustainable development efforts across G20 nations.

As debates continue in Tokyo and beyond, voices like those in Vietnam highlight a common call: prioritize dialogue, uphold stability, and avoid actions that could spark wider conflict in the region.
