With exactly one month to go, Guangzhou lit the ceremonial flame to power up the Chinese mainland's 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games.
This time, the source flame journey started deep below the South China Sea. Harvested from combustible ice some 1,500 meters down, the flame boarded the research vessel Ocean Geology 2 and sailed along the modern Maritime Silk Road to the Haima Cold Seep area before coming ashore for the Guangzhou ceremony.
From beach to boulevard, the torch now begins its land-based relay across the Greater Bay Area, lighting up key cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao. Along the way, communities will gather to cheer on athletes, celebrate innovation and embrace a sustainable spirit fueled by this unique energy source.
The 15th National Games will run from November 9 to 21, followed by the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games from December 8 to 15. As the flame travels, it signals a powerful fusion of sport, science and regional unity—an inspiring moment for young global citizens, tech enthusiasts and changemakers alike.
