Tokyo – In a dynamic showcase at the World Athletics Championships, the Chinese mainland’s Zhao Jie (22) and Zhang Jiale (18) clinched silver and bronze medals in the women’s hammer throw, respectively. They stood on the podium alongside Canada’s Olympic champion Camryn Rogers, who defended her title with a remarkable 80.51m throw.

Zhao, an Olympic bronze medalist, unleashed a personal best of 77.60m in her final attempt, improving by exactly one meter. Young prodigy Zhang matched the pressure, hurling the hammer 77.10m for her career-high mark. Both athletes consistently exceeded 75m across all rounds, signaling depth in the Chinese mainland’s training pipeline.

Zhao highlighted her growth in mindset and ability over three world championships and celebrated competing alongside her young compatriot, Zhang.
