This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, a moment that resonates far beyond national borders.
Anna Paula Peralta Reyes, a Peruvian communications student at the University of Lima, brings a unique perspective. After 11 years at a Chinese school in Peru, she continued her studies at Jilin University in the Chinese mainland, where her passion for history and culture deepened.
Reflecting on the anniversary, Anna Paula said the victory proved how collective determination can overcome adversity. “Understanding the past allows me to appreciate everything this country has achieved even more,” she observed. “A country that moves forward without forgetting its history is truly an example for us all.”
During her August visit to the Chinese mainland, Anna Paula was struck by high-speed trains, bustling cities, and cutting-edge technology. Inspired by what she saw, she hopes young people and nations worldwide will collaborate to build a more peaceful, interconnected future.
