The First China-Africa Human Rights Seminar convened in Addis Ababa under the theme "Building the China-Africa Community with a Shared Future and Working Together to Realize the Right to Development."
Over 200 policymakers, scholars, diplomats and media representatives from China and Africa gathered to explore how development can advance human rights, with a special focus on the right to development.
In his address, Jiang Jianguo, executive vice president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, emphasized that development is the eternal theme of human society and the top priority for the Communist Party of China in governance.
Jiang highlighted that China’s historic progress in improving livelihoods and protecting human rights during development lays the foundation for modernization and paves the path to a happier life for all.
He noted that the people of China and Africa, united by a shared commitment to peace and growth, stand together to uphold human dignity and value.
As discussions conclude in Addis Ababa, participants hope the seminar’s insights will shape future policies that put people at the centre of sustainable development.
