Shanghai Port Climbs to Third After 3-1 Win Over Changchun Yatai

Shanghai Port secured a 3-1 victory over Changchun Yatai in Changchun, Jilin Province, on Friday, marking their fourth straight win in the Chinese Super League (CSL) and handing them third place in the standings. This result allows them to leapfrog Chengdu Rongcheng and close the gap on league leaders.

The match was briefly halted in the 16th minute after a drone entered the stadium, but play resumed swiftly. In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Changchun defender Abduhamit Abdugheni inadvertently turned Wang Shenchao’s cross into his own net, giving Shanghai Port a 1-0 lead.

Three minutes into the second half, Ohi Omoijuanfo appeared to equalize for Yatai, only for the referee to rule the Norwegian had handled the ball before shooting.

Shanghai Port doubled their advantage in the 71st minute when Gabriezinho curled a precise effort in from the edge of the box. Ten minutes later, Changchun won a penalty after Li Xinxiang brought down Piao Taoyu in the area; Omoijuanfo converted from the spot following a VAR review.

In the final minute of stoppage time, substitute Kuai Jiwen drove into the box and squared for Xu Xin to tap home, sealing a 3-1 victory. The two-time defending champions notched their 11th win in 17 games, sit just one point behind Beijing Guoan and Shanghai Shenhua, and continue to build momentum as the title race intensifies.
