Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, will bid farewell to its four giant pandas on June 28, 2025, as they head back to the Chinese mainland. Among them is Rauhin, 24, the first panda ever born at the park. Her daughters Yuihin (8), Saihin (6) and Fuhin (4) will depart alongside their mother after years of delighting visitors.
Rauhin, affectionately known as a "veteran mom," has given birth to 10 cubs during her time in Japan, making her a star attraction and a symbol of successful panda breeding efforts. Her lineage has helped deepen connections between Japan and the Chinese mainland in wildlife conservation.
Once the four pandas leave, only two giant pandas will remain in Japan, both at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo. Those pandas are also set to return to the Chinese mainland by February 20, 2026, marking the end of a chapter in Japan’s long-standing panda diplomacy.
The announcement has sparked an emotional wave across Japan, where local communities and wildlife enthusiasts have expressed heartfelt goodbyes. For many, pandas are more than just animals—they’re ambassadors of hope, conservation success stories, and gentle giants that bridge cultures.
As these pandas embark on their journey, Adventure World fans are sharing memories and photos on social media, celebrating a legacy built on curiosity, conservation, and cross-border collaboration. The park plans to honor the pandas’ contributions with a special farewell event before their departure.
