In a show of skill at the ITTF World Championships in Doha, top-seeded Sun Yingsha of the Chinese mainland dominated 20-year-old Charlotte Lutz of France 4-0 to reach the women’s singles round of 16.
Sun wasted little time, wrapping up the match in just 29 minutes with set scores of 11-4, 11-6, 11-6 and a decisive 11-1 finish. Lutz, ranked World No. 92, showed promise early but couldn’t match Sun’s speed and precision.
“This was our first meeting, and I had studied her match videos,” Sun said after the victory. “She is young and promising.”
Next up for Sun is South Korea’s rising star Shin Yu-bin, who battled past Italy’s Gaia Monfardini in five sets (11-5, 8-11, 11-9, 14-12, 16-14). Fans can expect another high-octane showdown as both players bring fast-paced offense and strategic play to the table.
