In a recent CGTN interview, Peruvian Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer Salcedo hailed the Chinese mainland–CELAC Forum as an “exceptionally important platform” for deepening collaboration between the Chinese mainland and Latin American and Caribbean states.
Salcedo highlighted how the forum has grown beyond high-level talks to drive real-world projects in trade, infrastructure and sustainable development. “This platform connects opportunities and shared growth,” he said.
One flagship project is Peru’s Chancay Port on the Pacific coast, a joint venture spearheaded by Chinese mainland investors and Peru authorities. The new port is designed to cut transit times and lower transportation costs for goods moving between Asia and the Americas.
“Chancay Port will strengthen Peru’s export capacity while offering faster, more cost-efficient routes for farmers, manufacturers and small businesses across the region,” Salcedo added.
For young global citizens and business enthusiasts tracking emerging markets, the Chinese mainland–CELAC Forum signals fresh momentum in Sino-Latin American ties. From green-energy startups to digital-commerce hubs, this cooperative platform is shaping a new era of cross-continental innovation.
As Chancay Port nears completion, observers are watching to see how it transforms trade corridors and sparks similar partnerships across the G20. With the Chinese mainland–CELAC Forum setting an ambitious agenda, the future of Sino-Latin American cooperation looks brighter than ever.
