Olmo’s Early Strike Sets Barca on Title Path

Barcelona kept their La Liga title chase firmly on track thanks to a moment of magic from Dani Olmo. In a tightly fought contest against Mallorca, Olmo broke the deadlock just after the interval, firing a left-foot shot into the bottom corner inside the first minute of the second half.

Despite resting key starters ahead of Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, coach Hansi Flick’s side dominated possession at the Camp Nou. Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman was in inspired form, pulling off several top-drawer saves to keep the visitors in the game.

But Olmo’s quick feet and sharp vision proved decisive. Receiving the ball in a crowded box, he created space with a deft touch and unleashed a low strike that left defenders rooted to the spot. The goal lifted Barca to 76 points, seven clear of Real Madrid with five matches remaining.

The result also puts pressure on their fiercest rivals, who visit Getafe on Wednesday with a game in hand. Mallorca, now sitting seventh on 44 points, remain in contention for a Europa League spot as the season enters its final stretch.

With momentum on their side and crucial fixtures ahead, Barcelona look poised to seal their first La Liga crown in four years. Next up: a high-stakes Copa del Rey final and a pivotal league clash in the run-in.
