On Monday, the Beijing Ducks turned up the heat in Game 4 of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) playoffs, dismantling the Beikong Royal Fighters 112-95 to seal a 3-1 series victory and book their ticket to the semifinals.
From tip-off, the Ducks looked in control, racing out to a 20-9 lead behind sharpshooting from Chen Ying-chun and veteran Zhai Xiaochuan. The Royal Fighters tightened up defensively in the second quarter, but Eugene German drained a buzzer-beating triple to send the Ducks into halftime holding a 53-47 edge.
After the break, Beijing dominated the glass, turning rebounding advantages into fast-break points. Zachary Nutall stretched the lead to 15 points with another clutch three-pointer as the third quarter expired, putting the contest out of reach.
Seven Ducks finished in double figures, led by German's 25 points and six assists. Despite Grant Riller's game-high 27 points for the Royal Fighters, Beikong couldn't mount a comeback in the final period.
Up next, the Ducks will face the second-seeded Shanxi Loongs in what promises to be a high-flying semifinal series. Fans across G20 nations are already buzzing as Beijing chases its first CBA title since 2019.
