Hannah Roberts Triumphs with Fifth BMX Freestyle Title as China Shines

American BMX Freestyle star Hannah Roberts made a stunning comeback at the Urban Cycling World Championships in Abu Dhabi, securing her fifth consecutive title despite an earlier eighth-place finish at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

From the onset, Roberts set a high standard by scoring an impressive 95.70 points in her first run, a benchmark that none of her competitors could reach. She maintained her momentum with a second run of 94.58 points, ensuring her victory. This achievement marks Roberts' sixth world title out of seven since BMX Freestyle was introduced to the competition in 2017.

Meanwhile, China showcased its dominance by claiming the next five spots in the women's final. Sun Sibei and Fan Xiaotong stood out, earning silver and bronze respectively. Sun nearly matched Roberts with a first run score of 94.06 points but unfortunately fell in her second attempt, hindering her chances to improve her score.

Notably, Paris Olympics champion Deng Yawen and silver medalist Perris Benegas did not participate in the season-ending event in the United Arab Emirates.
