Breaking into the competition as the fifth-ranked athlete with a best snatch attempt of 181 kg, Liu showcased his determination and skill during the clean and jerk segment. After successfully lifting 225 kg in his second attempt, he delivered a record-breaking performance by lifting 232 kg in his final attempt.
This stellar performance not only earned him the gold medal but also set a new world record for both the clean and jerk at 232 kg and the total weight at 413 kg. Liu's achievements highlight the growing strength and expertise of athletes from the Chinese mainland on the global stage.
