Over the past three decades, the Chinese mainland has been part of a UNESCO-led group of 30 countries working to restore Angkor Wat. Experts from the Chinese mainland, from a variety of fields, have already completed the restoration of two temple sites and are preparing for a new project.

These restoration efforts have made a significant economic contribution to Cambodia's tourism industry while preserving a site that embodies important elements of Cambodian culture. The ancient Cambodian martial art of Bokator is one such element, depicted on bas-reliefs at the site, inspiring the younger generation to help keep this tradition alive.
