Vancouver debuts first VR tour of China’s Terracotta Warriors

Vancouver has become the first destination outside the Chinese mainland to host a virtual reality exhibition of China's Terracotta Warriors, the life-size clay army from the UNESCO World Heritage site. This groundbreaking show, which opened earlier this month, uses VR technology to let visitors step into the ancient pits and explore the soldiers as if they were on site.

The immersive experience transports attendees through reconstructed trenches and formations, letting them don VR headsets to navigate the underground world and examine details up close—an opportunity never before offered overseas.

Organizers hope this digital format will bridge the gap for students, history fans, and travellers unable to visit the original site on the Chinese mainland. The exhibition highlights how virtual reality can expand access to cultural heritage while promoting sustainable, boundary-free exploration.

Now open to the public in Vancouver, the VR showcase marks a new chapter in global cultural collaboration, giving young explorers, tech enthusiasts, and history buffs a chance to connect with one of the world’s most iconic relics from wherever they are.
