Yesterday in Toronto, on Monday, December 1, the Canada-China Forum on Trade and Investment Cooperation marked the highest-level commercial engagement between the two nations since President Xi and Prime Minister Carney met in Gyeongju, South Korea. Over 150 business leaders, investors, and policymakers from both sides gathered to explore new opportunities and strengthen bilateral ties.
Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, led the Chinese delegation. He affirmed that the CCPIT is "ready to work hand in hand with Canadian partners to provide strong support for the sound and steady development of China–Canada economic relations." Ren highlighted the need to expand trade and investment, spotlighting sectors such as clean energy, automotive electronics, and technology innovation.
Representatives of the Canadian business community emphasized that amid major shifts in global supply chains, now is a crucial moment to deepen economic cooperation with China. The forum also featured an information session on the upcoming 4th China International Supply Chain Expo, offering practical guidance for Canadian companies seeking to tap into new investment and market opportunities.
