In the 1,000 meter final, Italy's Pietro Sighel led through the first laps before Liu surged ahead on lap seven, setting up a dramatic photo finish. South Korea's Rim Jong-un edged Liu in the final straight, touching the line in 1:25.877. Liu secured silver in 1:26.023, while Sighel settled for bronze.
