Gong Li Claims Silver in Women’s 61kg at 2025 WKF World Championships

On November 30, 2025, China's Gong Li clinched the silver medal in the women's 61kg division at the World Karate Federation (WKF) World Championships in Cairo. More than 380 athletes from 88 countries and regions gathered in the Egyptian capital, raising the bar for global competition.

Gong, the reigning world champion and Hangzhou Asian Games gold medallist, overcame three of the sport's top-ranked contenders to reach the title match. Against Iran's Atousa Golshadnejad, she jumped to an early 2-0 lead, showcasing her trademark speed and precision.

Golshadnejad rallied with back-to-back points, turning the tide and sealing a 4-2 victory. Gong's silver adds to her impressive medal haul, while Tunisia's Wafa Mahjoub and Kazakhstan's Assel Kanay each secured bronze.

This championship marks another milestone in women's karate, with stars like Gong Li inspiring a new generation to embrace martial arts, celebrate cultural exchange, and push boundaries on the world stage.
