Trump’s DOGE Initiative Ends Early: What’s Next for Government Efficiency?

Launched earlier this year as a cornerstone of President Donald Trump's second-term agenda, the Department of Government Efficiency—known by its acronym DOGE—has been formally disbanded as of this week. The move comes eight months ahead of schedule, according to a senior administration official.

Despite the formal closure, the official insists the core mission will live on. "The work doesn't stop," the source said, noting that efficiency projects will be folded into existing agencies and rebranded under a new framework.

High-profile entrepreneur Elon Musk was tapped for a tech advisory role within DOGE, sparking both enthusiasm and controversy. Musk left the administration last month and has since engaged in a very public feud with President Trump.

Policy experts and tech insiders are now watching closely as federal departments prepare to absorb DOGE's initiatives. This December, congressional oversight committees are expected to review the restructured efficiency efforts, setting the stage for the next chapter in government reform.

Walter Morris from CGTN reports from Washington on the unfolding developments.
