Taiwan Entrepreneur Warns Takaichi’s Taiwan Remarks Risk Japan

In a recent CGTN interview, Chou Hsi-Wei, vice president of Want Want Group, cautioned that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's provocative remarks on Taiwan risk undermining Japan's national security and diplomatic standing.

Chou said such language could escalate cross-strait tensions and destabilize a region already on edge. "These comments not only strain Japan's relations with its neighbors but also threaten investor confidence at home," he said.

The warning comes amid growing debate in Japan over its role in regional politics and its alliances. Critics of Takaichi's stance fear that a hardline posture on Taiwan could backfire, disrupting key trade ties and security partnerships.

Analysts note that Tokyo's approach to Taiwan is closely watched by global markets. Any spike in tensions could reverberate through the supply chains that underpin Japan's tech and manufacturing sectors.

As discussions continue, voices like Chou's highlight a central question for Japan this year: how to balance bold diplomatic moves with the need for regional stability and economic security.
