Israel Launches Major Operation in Northern West Bank

Operation Overview

On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the Israeli army launched a large-scale operation across the northern West Bank, imposing a curfew, setting up roadblocks, and deploying ground forces and Apache helicopters as part of what the military and the Shin Bet security agency described as a โ€œbroad counterterrorism operation.โ€

The operation, which began overnight, targeted key towns including Tubas, Aqqaba, Tammun, Tayaseer and Wadi al-Farโ€™a. Bulldozers sealed roads leading to the Tubas Governorate, and checkpoints restricted movement for residents and patients seeking medical care.

Humanitarian Concerns

Palestinian Authority governor Ahmed al-Asaad reported that troops raided homes, displaced families and converted residences into military posts. All schools and kindergartens in the region remain closed, and local hospitals have faced delays in treating patients.

Emergency Response

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa has instructed emergency committees to mobilize resources and maintain essential services for the more than 100,000 residents in the affected area. Humanitarian agencies warn of urgent needs for shelter and healthcare as the operation continues.

Regional Context

Such raids have intensified since the sharp escalation of violence after October 7, 2023. According to the Ramallah-based health ministry, at least 1,082 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank this year amid near-daily clashes and settler attacks. The operation comes just weeks after global leaders called for renewed de-escalation efforts in the region.
