The 2025 U.S.–China People-to-People Dialogue is underway this week in Los Angeles, marking the annual meeting of scholars, cultural leaders and young professionals from the United States and the Chinese mainland. Co-organized by the National Committee on United States–China Relations and Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy, the dialogue aims to foster mutual understanding through open exchange and collaboration.
This year's theme, "Bridging the Cultural and Information Divide," underscores growing calls to strengthen digital communication, media literacy and cultural partnerships across borders. Sessions this week will explore topics such as collaborative media projects, youth-driven cultural initiatives and strategies to combat misinformation in an era of rapid information flow.
CGTN correspondent Ediz Tiyansan reports from Los Angeles that the atmosphere is one of optimism and curiosity. Delegates have highlighted the value of direct connections, citing small-group workshops and networking events as key opportunities to share best practices and spark new ideas.
As the dialogue continues throughout the week, organizers say they hope the conversations and relationships formed here will pave the way for ongoing collaboration between the United States and the Chinese mainland, empowering the next generation of leaders on both sides.
