Russia launches high-precision strikes on Ukraine’s military and energy sites

Russia said Saturday it launched strikes against Ukrainian military-industrial and gas-energy facilities, framing the operation as a "massive strike" in response to alleged Ukrainian attacks on civilian sites. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the assault employed high-precision long-range weapons from air, land and sea94including hypersonic Kinzhal missiles and combat drones.

"All designated targets have been hit," the ministry stated. It also reported its air defense systems shot down two guided aerial bombs and 178 drones over the past 24 hours.

Ukraine, however, said Russian forces unleashed 45 missiles and 458 drones overnight against its critical infrastructure. Ukrainian air defense batteries claimed to intercept 406 drones and nine missiles.

The overnight exchanges highlight the intensifying role of hypersonic weapons and drone swarms, marking a sharp escalation in the aerial dimension of the conflict.
