The Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony is set for February 6 at Milan's historic San Siro Stadium, promising a celebration of Italian values, rich cultural heritage, and the unifying Olympic spirit.
Unveiled at a Milan press conference by the President and CEO of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation alongside the creative team, the event will revolve around the theme of "harmony".
"Armonia is a simple yet powerful word," said Maria-Laura Iascone, Director of Ceremonies. "It is the key that allows us to intertwine different languages – artistic, visual, and human – and transform them into a collective experience. It will be a story that moves and inspires, where every gesture and image will be part of a shared design."
The ceremony will showcase Italian excellence across the arts, music, and design – blending traditional performances with cutting-edge visuals and immersive storytelling to engage a global audience. San Siro, home to AC Milan and Inter and with a capacity of over 75,000, will be transformed into a stage that bridges history and innovation.
A special tribute to the late fashion legend Giorgio Armani will honor his enduring influence on Italian style and culture, weaving his legacy into the opening spectacle.
With a focus on sustainability and community, Milano-Cortina 2026 aims to set a new standard for inclusive, memorable Olympic ceremonies that resonate with young travelers, sports fans, and culture lovers worldwide.
