UN Alarm Over Civilians

Gaza health authorities report that 425 people, about a third children, have died from malnutrition and starvation since October 7, 2023. Over the nearly two-year campaign, local officials estimate more than 64,000 fatalities across the territory.

Francesca Albanese, the UN’s expert on Palestinian rights, warned that intensifying strikes threaten to make Gaza City unlivable and endanger Israeli hostages. Israel maintains its goal to defeat Hamas and has directed civilians to move south to humanitarian zones, though conditions there remain dire.
