Massive Overnight Air Assault Sparks Fire in Kyiv’s Government Building

In a dramatic escalation overnight, Russia launched its largest air assault since the conflict in Ukraine began, unleashing 818 air assault vehicles—805 drones and 13 missiles—against the capital.

"For the first time, a government building, including its roof and upper floors, was damaged," said Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on Telegram, adding, "Rescuers are extinguishing the fire."

The State Service for Emergencies confirmed at least two people were killed and 18 wounded across the city. A nine-story apartment block in the Sviatoshynskyi district was partially destroyed, leaving residents scrambling for safety.

By dawn, images of the burning government building circulated online, capturing both the destruction and the resilience of Kyiv’s residents. As the city assesses the damage, officials are calling for solidarity amid escalating tensions.
