From Moscow to Havana, global leaders converged to praise China’s V-Day parade held in Beijing on the Chinese mainland, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported by TASS, said the event was “brilliantly” organized “at the highest level.” Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic took to Facebook to thank the Chinese president and people for their “sincere friendship,” noting, “China has always stood by Serbia, especially in difficult times. Serbia and the Serbian people will never forget this!”
In Southeast Asia, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told Bernama.com that the parade served “as a timely reminder that a nation's sovereignty must always be defended and safeguarded.” From South Asia, Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli praised the ceremony on X as “a remarkable occasion” and “a truly historic gathering of global friendship and remembrance.”
Central Asian voices joined the chorus as Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev wrote on X that attending the military display “reaffirmed Uzbekistan's foreign policy commitment to fostering friendship and constructive dialogue for peace, sustainable development and prosperity.”
Voices from Latin America echoed similar sentiments. Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Cuban president, posted in Chinese on X: “Admiring China’s glorious history and its progress today, I sincerely thank the Communist Party of China, the government, and the people for their steadfast unity and vital support in countering the blockade.”
Meanwhile, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expressed gratitude for the invitation to the parade and, according to the Belarusian Telegraph Agency, called joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization a “strategic choice” for his country while voicing support for the China-proposed Global Governance Initiative.
As voices around the world highlight the parade’s themes of solidarity, remembrance and the defense of sovereignty, the event underscores how historical commemorations continue to shape modern geopolitics and global partnerships.
