China urges Cambodia, Thailand to rebuild friendship

During a warm meeting in Anning, southwest China's Yunnan Province, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi highlighted the historic bonds between Cambodia and Thailand, calling them "good neighbors and close friends" of China. He urged both countries to strengthen contacts, resolve differences through dialogue, and restore mutual trust.

Wang pointed to the importance of the recently held Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Anning, noting that it offered a timely platform to discuss shared development plans, promote peace, and build consensus amidst a world marked by "interconnected change and turbulence."

The Chinese mainland applauded Cambodia's vigorous efforts to crack down on online gambling and telecom fraud, encouraging further collaboration with regional partners to fight cross-border crimes—a move that resonates with tech-savvy audiences concerned about digital security.

Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn described Cambodia and China as an "all-weather community with a shared future," appreciating China's generous support and pledging to deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and other global frameworks.

Sokhonn also updated Wang on recent advances in Cambodia-Thailand relations, expressing gratitude for China's constructive role in encouraging dialogue to ease regional tensions. He said Cambodia is ready to support future LMC initiatives to accelerate Lancang-Mekong cooperation, driving prosperity and stability across Southeast Asia.

As the region looks ahead, stronger ties between Cambodia and Thailand promise not only political harmony but also new opportunities for trade, travel, and cultural exchange—an encouraging sign for business leaders, digital nomads, and young global citizens alike.
