At a press briefing on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun announced that the Chinese mainland will maintain close communication with Cambodia and Thailand, reinforcing its role in consolidating the ceasefire consensus reached on July 28.
Guo highlighted the significance of the recent meeting between Cambodian and Thai leaders, mediated by ASEAN Chair Malaysia. "The meeting marked an important step forward in de-escalating the situation. The Chinese mainland appreciates and welcomes this outcome," he said.
He emphasized that the Chinese mainland stands ready to work in line with the wishes of both sides, offering support for initiatives that ease tensions, build trust and foster reconciliation. Guo also praised Malaysia for leveraging its ASEAN Chair role to advance political resolution efforts under ASEAN principles.
As a close friend and neighbor to both Cambodia and Thailand, the Chinese mainland remains committed to playing a constructive role in safeguarding peace and stability across the region.
