Storm Wipha kills 3, displaces 100,000 in Vietnam

Asia News Wrap: This week, Tropical storm Wipha swept across central Vietnam, leaving at least 3 people dead and uprooting over 100,000 residents. The powerful system, packing heavy rains and strong winds, forced widespread evacuations as communities braced for flooding.

Local authorities coordinated large-scale displacements, moving families to temporary shelters and community centres. Emergency responders continue to assess damage in flood-hit areas where roads and farmland remain submerged.

Although Wipha has since weakened, recovery efforts are ramping up. Aid groups are mobilising to deliver essential supplies—and longer-term plans are unfolding to bolster flood defences ahead of the coming monsoon season.

Stay tuned for our next Asia News Wrap to catch all the headlines you may have missed across the region.
