Three-month-old Yahya has tragically died of starvation in Gaza, his family and doctors told CGTN, after desperate searches for baby formula came up empty.
"My family couldn't find baby formula or food to feed him," said his aunt, Najla Al-Najjar, as the toll of hunger rises amid the territory's ongoing blockade.
Dr. Ragheb Warsh Agha of Al-Rantisi Children's Hospital reported a surge in malnutrition and chronic diarrhea cases, directly linked to the severe shortage of baby milk. In the past 24 hours alone, Reuters reported, 15 people have starved to death in Gaza.
For the first time since strikes began in October 2023, Palestinian officials say dozens are now also dying of hunger, with food stocks depleted after Israel cut off all supplies in March and later eased the blockade under strict measures.
At least 101 people are known to have died of hunger during the conflict, including 80 children, most of them in the past few weeks, Reuters cited Palestinian officials.
The mounting crisis underscores the urgent need for safe humanitarian aid to reach vulnerable families and infants before more lives are lost.
