China and Ghana Celebrate 65 Years of Diplomatic Ties

China and Ghana are celebrating a major milestone: 65 years of friendly diplomatic relations. On Saturday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Ghanaian counterpart Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa exchanged warm congratulations, highlighting a partnership that began more than six decades ago when Ghana became one of the first sub-Saharan African nations to establish diplomatic ties with the Chinese mainland.

Over the past 65 years, relations have developed in a sound and stable manner, marked by deep political mutual trust and fruitful cooperation in various fields. Both sides have also maintained close coordination in international affairs, laying a solid foundation for ongoing collaboration.

In their messages, Wang expressed his readiness to work with Ablakwa to take this anniversary as an opportunity to push for greater development of the China-Ghana strategic partnership. Ablakwa, in turn, thanked China for its long-term support of Ghana’s socio-economic development and underlined Accra’s eagerness to deepen bilateral ties.

This 65th anniversary sets the stage for even stronger cooperation between China and Ghana, promising continued benefits for both nations and their citizens as they navigate new economic and geopolitical currents.
