Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has clarified that no arrangement or commitment has been made to restart negotiations with the United States, despite U.S. President Donald Trump's recent announcement of planned discussions next week.
In an interview with state broadcaster IRIB, Araghchi emphasized that Tehran is evaluating the possibility of returning to the table but will only proceed if Iran's national interests are fully protected.
Our decisions will be based solely on Iran's interests. If our interests require a return to negotiations, we will consider it. But at this stage, no agreement or promise has been made and no talks have taken place.
This denial follows comments by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who accused President Trump of exaggerating the impact of recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
What's Next?
- No formal talks have been scheduled or held to date
- Any future negotiations hinge on safeguarding Iran's strategic priorities
- Washington's stated intention to meet with Tehran remains unconfirmed by Iranian authorities
As both sides weigh their next moves, the global community is watching for signs of renewed engagement or continued stalemate.
