Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused companies in Germany, Czechia, South Korea and Japan—and even a US firm—of supplying Russia with machine tools used to make weapons.
"The Russian Federation receives machine tools from some countries—which they use to manufacture weapons," Zelenskyy said, urging allies to clamp down on these supply chains.
Ukraine's leaders have repeatedly pointed out that Western-made components turn up in Russian drones and missiles. Zelenskyy said Kyiv has shared detailed findings with partners and called for targeted sanctions on the companies involved.
Meanwhile, President Vladimir Putin has doubled down on his stance, declaring "Ukraine ours" in a display of confidence in Moscow's claim over its neighbor. The clash of narratives highlights deepening tensions in a conflict that began in 2022.
As the debate intensifies, global firms face increased scrutiny over trade controls, while Ukraine presses its allies to tighten restrictions to curb Russia's war machine.
