In a bid to unify Arab responses amid rising regional tensions, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has called for an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers on the sidelines of the upcoming 51st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul.
Speaking in a phone call with Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, Hussein said the meeting aims to coordinate Arab positions in light of the rapid developments and address current challenges with a spirit of common responsibility.
The move comes as the Israel-Iran conflict continues to ripple through the region, prompting fears of wider instability. During the call, the two diplomats discussed how maintaining diplomatic cohesion could help prevent further escalation and protect regional security.
In a separate conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Hussein underscored the importance of bolstering diplomatic coordination among Islamic countries ahead of the OIC meeting, scheduled to take place this Saturday and Sunday.
As young global citizens and policy watchers tune in, this emergency session could be a key moment for Arab nations to present a united front, navigate complex security challenges, and shape the diplomatic landscape of the Middle East.
