UN Warns 14,000 Gaza Babies at Risk of Death Within 48 Hours

In a dramatic appeal, the UN warns that unless aid flows into Gaza escalate, 14,000 babies could perish within 48 hours due to dire shortages of food and medicine.

Tom Fletcher, the UN's humanitarian chief, called for Gaza to be 'flooded' with relief supplies, terming the projected death toll 'utterly chilling' and rooted in field reports from teams scrambling to deliver essentials amid escalating conflict.

Recent approvals from Israel for roughly 100 additional aid trucks have been slow to translate into deliveries. On Monday, only five out of nine trucks cleared the Kerem Shalom crossing, underscoring how current supplies represent just 'a drop in the ocean', according to Fletcher.

Meanwhile, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to press on for 'complete victory' over Hamas, aiming to free 58 hostages and dismantle the militant group. He has warned of a looming 'red line' as global support risks eroding.

Humanitarian agencies are now racing against the clock, advocating for safe corridors and sustained international collaboration to avert what could become one of the worst child-led tragedies in recent history.

With the clock ticking, the world's response in the coming days will be a litmus test for global solidarity and the protection of the most vulnerable – Gaza's children.
