Cuban Students Shine at China Bridge Contest

At the latest China Bridge contest held in Havana, Cuban students took center stage in this international challenge hosted by Confucius Institutes. The event tests participants’ mastery of Mandarin and their understanding of Chinese culture through speeches, skits, and creative presentations.

Dozens of participants showcased their language skills and cultural insights, all competing for an all-expenses-paid trip to the Chinese mainland for the world final and scholarship opportunities to study on the Chinese mainland.

For many contestants, the competition is more than a test of vocabulary—it’s a gateway to global connections. Students shared how exploring Chinese cinema, music, and calligraphy sparked new friendships and inspired career goals.

As finalists prepare for the world stage, they join peers from around the globe in promoting cross-cultural dialogue. Their journeys highlight a broader trend of rising interest in Chinese language programs across Latin America.

With passion and perseverance, these Cuban young learners are building bridges between cultures and shaping a more interconnected future.
