Tensions soared Saturday as India and Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks across their contested frontier. In a media briefing, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said Pakistan forces used unmanned combat aerial vehicles, loitering munitions and fighter jets along India's western border and the Line of Control in Kashmir.
"Pakistan military also resorted to air intrusions using drones and heavy calibre weapons along the LoC," Singh stated, reporting airspace incursions and harassment at over 26 locations from Srinagar to Naliya. After 0140 hours local time, high-speed missile salvos struck several air bases in Punjab.
India's military response included precision airstrikes on Pakistan Air Force bases, officials confirmed. Debris from drones, missiles and munitions was later recovered in Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat and Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Residents in Srinagar and Jammu, as well as communities in Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat, described a night rattled by explosions and the hum of drones. The latest exchange underscores the fragile peace along one of the world's most heavily militarized borders.
