US Airstrikes in Sanaa Kill At Least 8, Dozens Wounded

Late Sunday night, the U.S. military launched a series of airstrikes on Sanaa, Yemen's Houthi-held capital, killing at least eight people, according to Houthi-run health authorities.

Rescuers raced against time, digging through the rubble of three bombed homes in the Bani Al-Harith district. Initial estimates suggest dozens more were wounded as fighter jets struck multiple locations across northern Yemen.

Al-Masirah TV reported nearly 20 separate strikes in the region on Sunday. By some counts, this sharp uptick in U.S. targeting of Houthi positions underscores the conflict's risk to regional stability and international maritime routes.

U.S. Central Command said the latest operation targeted Houthi leadership positions in a bid to deter the group from targeting Israel or international shipping lanes in the Red and Arabian Seas.

As the air campaign intensifies, civilians face the brunt of an escalating conflict with potential ripple effects on global markets, regional security, and humanitarian relief efforts.
