What began as a routine bus journey in Sri Lankas Uva Province on Friday turned chaotic when the vehicle veered off the road near Mahiyanganaya, injuring 27 people, including 10 school children.
Police blamed a failure in the braking system for the accident, which occurred as the vehicle navigated a bend on a rural stretch of highway.
Police spokesperson Buddhika Manatunga confirmed that 10 of the injured were school children. All victims were rushed to a regional hospital for treatment. No fatalities were reported.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
