In a dramatic escalation, Yemen’s Houthi movement announced Friday that it had targeted two U.S. aircraft carriers and a military site near Israel’s main airport. The declaration comes after what the group described as the deadliest U.S. strikes on Yemen in over a year.
The strikes hit a key Yemeni fuel port, killing at least 74 people, according to the Houthis. This toll marks a stark reminder of how quickly military operations can spill into civilian areas.
"The American military buildup and continued aggression against our country will only lead to more counter-attack and attack operations, clashes and confrontations," Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said in the capital, Sanaa.
The coming days could test the limits of restraint as both sides prepare for potential further exchanges, raising questions about regional stability.
