Coalition of Allies Bolsters Ukraine Post-Ceasefire Plans

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently convened a dynamic virtual meeting with over two dozen global leaders, including representatives from Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Australia, as well as Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO's secretary general. The discussion focused on activating a "coalition of the willing" aimed at ensuring continued support for Ukraine once a ceasefire with Russia is reached.

The meeting comes as U.S. President Donald Trump has pressed for a ceasefire deal, with expectations that Europe play a larger role in backing Ukraine. Starmer emphasized that Western allies are determined to maintain the flow of military aid to Ukraine and tighten economic restrictions designed to weaken Russia's war machine.

During the virtual session, Starmer underlined the importance of decisive action, stating, "We agreed we will keep increasing the pressure on Russia, keep the military aid flowing to Ukraine, and keep tightening restrictions on Russia's economy to weaken Putin's war machine and bring him to the table." Defense chiefs are set to finalize these robust plans in an upcoming meeting.

Furthermore, leaders from Britain, France, and Australia indicated their openness to deploying peacekeepers in Ukraine if required. While Russia has welcomed a ceasefire in principle, its conditions reflect ongoing military priorities, suggesting that any agreement may take time to solidify. The renewed alliance highlights a collective commitment to securing Ukraine's future in a post-truce era.
