Gaza Residents Rally Against Trump’s Relocation Proposal

Dozens of Palestinians gathered in Gaza on Saturday to protest U.S. President Donald Trump's contentious proposal to relocate the Strip's population to Egypt and Jordan. The demonstrators took to the streets of Al-Saraya Square in central Gaza City and Deir al-Balah, waving both Palestinian and Egyptian flags.

Large banners featuring images of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi bore slogans like, \"Egypt will always stand as a true supporter and defender of the Palestinian cause and will never accept the displacement of its people.\"

A statement issued by families and clan leaders firmly rejected any plans aimed at displacing Palestinians from their homeland. \"Palestine is our rightful homeland, and we will not allow anyone to undermine that,\" the statement emphasized.

The protesters called for unity among Palestinians to defend their rights, urging them to remain steadfast on their land and committed to their right of return and independence. \"We will not accept any threat to our Palestinian identity or any distortion of our history, which has been shaped by generations of struggle and resilience against the occupation,\" the statement added.

They also praised Egypt's stance under President al-Sisi, highlighting his unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and his rejection of any attempts to compromise Palestinian national rights.

Earlier, Hamas dismissed the U.S. relocation proposal as \"absurd and worthless.\" Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri criticized the U.S. for its persistent claims about displacing Gaza's population, describing it as complicity in crime and warning that such plans would escalate chaos and tension in the region.

Additionally, foreign ministers and representatives from six Arab countries, along with the Arab League, convened in Cairo on Saturday. They called for a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza that ensures Palestinians remain on their land. The meeting included foreign ministers from Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and representatives from the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Arab League.
