Biden Commits $2.5 Billion in Security Aid to Ukraine

U.S. President Joe Biden has pledged an additional nearly $2.5 billion in security assistance to Ukraine, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to its ally amidst ongoing tensions.

The new support package encompasses a $1.25 billion drawdown initiative aimed at enhancing the Ukrainian military’s capabilities. Additionally, a $1.22 billion Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) package will further bolster Ukraine's defense infrastructure, President Biden announced in an official statement.

In his remarks, Biden emphasized the effective utilization of Congress-appropriated funds, stating, "As I committed earlier this year, the Department of Defense has now allocated all remaining USAI funds appropriated by Congress in the supplemental that I signed in April, and my administration is fully utilizing the funding appropriated by Congress to support the drawdown of U.S. equipment for Ukraine."

Furthermore, the U.S. Department of Defense is actively delivering substantial military resources, including hundreds of thousands of artillery rounds, thousands of rockets, and hundreds of armored vehicles, to support Ukraine's defense efforts.
