DPRK Appoints Pak Thae Song as New Premier Amid Major Party Shake-Up

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has introduced a significant leadership change, appointing Pak Thae Song as the new premier. This announcement was made by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Sunday.

The appointment took place during the Enlarged Meeting of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) held in Pyongyang from December 23 to 27. This meeting saw a series of major personnel updates within the ruling party.

In addition to his new role as premier, Pak Thae Song was elected as a presidium member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK. This position underscores his influence within the party's leadership structure.

The meeting also saw Choe Son Hui, the current foreign minister, being elected as a member of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee. These changes indicate a strategic reshuffling aimed at strengthening the party's governance and policy implementation.
