Syrian Rebels Make Bold Move: Enter Damascus as Assad’s Rule Faces Challenge

In a significant turn of events, Syrian rebels announced on Sunday that they have begun entering the capital city of Damascus. Unlike previous attempts, there have been no signs of army deployments to counter their advance.

'We celebrate with the Syrian people the news of freeing our prisoners, releasing their chains, and announcing the end of the era of injustice in Sednaya prison,' the rebels declared. Sednaya, a large military prison on the outskirts of Damascus, has been notorious for detaining thousands of individuals under the Syrian government.

Adding to their momentum, the rebels also announced that they had gained full control of the key city of Homs early on Sunday after just one day of intense fighting. This swift takeover puts President Bashar al-Assad's 24-year rule under immense scrutiny and pressure as insurgents continue their march towards Damascus.

The developments mark a potential shift in the long-standing conflict, raising hopes for significant political changes in the region.
