In a decisive move on Friday, Burkina Faso's President Ibrahim Traore terminated the duties of Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem de Tambela and dissolved the current government.
The presidential decree, broadcasted live on public television, announced that \"the duties of the prime minister are terminated\" and \"the government is dissolved.\" According to the decree, members of the dissolved government will continue to handle ongoing affairs until a new government is established.
This sudden development comes without any explanation for the president’s decision. Prime Minister Kyelem had been appointed by Traore in October 2022, following the president's ascent to power on September 30, 2022, after a military coup.
